HULL City Away

Storm Darragh lashed the north west and the wind howled around Ewood. Rain splattered across the car park that resembled in some places a lake but, this didn't stop the brave souls  of the 100 club boarding the ironically named Lakeland coach for our trip to Hull. The journey though was uneventful for the passengers but must have been hell for our driver as gale force winds battered the high moorland reaches of the M62, in fact he said on our return to Ewood that his arms were sore from fighting to hold the steering wheel. A round of thanks for him correctly given. The betting on the game was a bit of a dilemma for Andy and Mel as Cantwell was 5/1 to score first and he was the most placed and would possibly created a loss to the club if he scored, Andy had to write a few IOUs just in case. Gueye was down at 4/1 to score first, but I think Andy forgot a few noughts after the 4. Once all bets were placed the rumour mill began turning and Cantwell was deemed not to be playing having suffered a knock. Only Mystic Dave Walton could have known that as he gets to know the team before Eustace and it didn't come from him so it was easily discounted. Lunch was at the magnificent Cave Castle, another Mel classic then off to the MKM stadium in torrential rain where luckily the coach dropped us only a few metres from the away end entrance. We had fantastic block of seats with no-one standing up in front so a great view of a great game. Eustace has got the team defensively sound and although we were under pressure at times we won 1-0 after a Brittain shot was deflected by a Hull player into his own goal. We left the game in a Play Off position and if Father Christmas brings us a striker in the January transfers we may be looking at a trip to Wembley next May.
